Cecelia,
I think "communication consultant" is most widely used, but that may be because I'm active in the Association of Professional Communication Consultants (www.consultingsuccess.org). We're a great organization at a real bargain, and we have…
I am professor emeritus and former chair of English at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. My consulting clients have included the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, the Republic of Botswana, IBM, the International Monetary Fund, and the U.S. Social Security Administration. I have written for, or shared platforms with, such business speakers as Warren Bennis, Kenneth Blanchard, Stephen Covey, Tom Peters, and Denis Waitely.
With more than 30 years experience as a business writer, editor, and trainer, I have served as director-at-large of the Association for Business Communication and am immediate past president of the Association of Professional Communication Consultants. I live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with my wife and business partner, Bette Davis.
Through consulting, speaking, training, and executive coaching, I help people and organizations improve their chief value-producing activity: writing. Thousands of knowledge workers have profited from my unique Manage Your Writing® method. This method is the basis for my latest book, The McGraw-Hill 36-Hour Course in Business Writing and Communication, which has been translated into Mandarin. I publish a blog at www.ManageYourWriting.com. My LinkedIn profile is at www.linkedin.com/in/kennethwdavis.

Thanks for the welcome, Ken. We're fellow Drake alums. I got my master's through their adult learning program. That opened up some Plain Talk consulting opportunities with the state. Your 36-Hour Course in Business Writing and Communication is one of the resources I recommend.
